We came up the Grand Union canal recently and found ourselves in a location that captured the evolution of transport in England. To the left of us was the railway, which rapidly made the canals redundant. On our right was the M1, which arguably took over from the railways. Click on the video to run it.

THANK YOU FOR THE VIDIO….I WAS SURPRISED TO LEARN THAT THEY STARTED BUILDING CANALS IN FRANCE AS EARLY AS 166O….IMAGINE THE PICK AND SHOVEL WORK……. WITHOUT A WITHERSPOONS AT THE END OF THE DAY…….XXXXXX
