OK, we knew we would possibly get snowed in on the canals, but not like this in the builder’s yard. We’ve had over 6 inches today:
The problem is, having just got back on board, our coal supplies were low. We used up our last 25Kg bag in the two days since we moved back on board. Fortunately, we currently have a hire car – we knew we would be here in the yard until Wednesday (maybe longer now), so we wanted to be mobile to catch up on shopping and supplies. Even more fortunately, the hire company didn’t have a car of the type I reserved in stock, so they gave us an upgrade – and the upgrade turns out to be all-wheel-drive! Given the state of the 200 yard path from the yard to the road, and that road being a minor one, the AWD has really helped as we were able to get out this morning to pick up more coal. Now we have enough to last for about 6 more days if we need to keep the stove lit continuously. The next challenge is going to be when temperatures drop to around – 5°C. Going to make for icy roads and even more difficulty travelling. We will be OK though, we have mains electricity and water, plus there is diesel fuel available if we need more – thanks Bluewater Boats.
Looks like the car is trying to tow the boat – think it might struggle.
Keep warm.
