A beautiful day

I don’t normally post about a day’s cruising, but today, as you will know, has been the most gorgeous, sunny day. Hard to believe it is only February and we have just travelled up the Staffordshire and Worcestershire canal. It is a wonderfully picturesque canal, and for my money is best at this time of year.

We travelled through cuttings in lovely deep orange sandstone rock, that looks as if a giant has taken sandpaper to it to smooth off the edges. We have cruised between wonderful tree lined banks that are magnificent in the sunshine, all the more so because with no leaves on them you can see the incredible organic shapes they throw up. And we have listened to endless bird song, with Thrushes being particularly vocal.

So here is a slideshow of some images to give you an idea of how it has looked. I know some of my friends will recognise the sights.
