Settling in

So, we’ve been on board just over two weeks now.  It is taking time to sort out some loose ends and some business before we move on from the marina.  Last weekend we took a brief trip down to Braunston for a couple of nights, and then back to the marina again.  That was really just to test out the boat’s independence – no shore power means we rely on our batteries and generator.  The hardest thing so far has been learning how to regulate the heating stove!  Stopping it from making us too hot that is.   We are now leaving the central heating at a low temperature or actually off as the stove keeps us warm at night – and keeps the chill off overnight as well.

It has been a beautiful day here.  Helen took some photos of Brandy Pad this morning and you can see the view from our bow:

This afternoon we have taken a brief trip down to Norton Junction and moored up.  We want to go to the pub (The New Inn) for dinner this evening and it is about a mile and a half walk from the marina, in the dark along a very uneven tow-path.  So, what better than to take the boat and moor up?  Now we only have a short walk across the lock  to get there.  No drinking and driving for us. 😉
