Touching the steel

So, I have finally made a trip to Bluewater Boats and have actually been able to touch Brandy Pad!  The boat is real folks.  Still not a lot to see, but a lot of progress is being made, quite rapidly.  The diagonal struts in the photos are temporary, to give rigidity until the sides and roof are added –  later this month.  By the second week of April, we hope to be able to get inside and start marking out the floor.  This is where all the internal elements are marked out so that we can fine tune positions for walls, galley, shower and loo etc.  Windows will just be holes in the wall at that point, to have portholes fitted much later on.

In these images you can see the stern of the boat and get an idea of how long it actually is (58 ft).  You can also see the welder at work and if you look carefully at the close up of the side, you can see the red glow where he is joining plates together.

All very exciting and thrilling to actually touch our boat after so many years planning and waiting. Click on an image for a larger view.
